Mitchell, Amelia A.
Amelia A. Mitchell, 80, of Fairfax, died peacefully Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Colonial Manor in Amana. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fairfax, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, by the Rev. Dustin Vu. Burial: St. Patrick Cemetery, Fairfax. The family will greet friends Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, 3100 F Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids.
Amelia was born April 8, 1931, to Rudolf and Agnes Andrle in Ely. She married Richard James Mitchell on Sept. 13, 1952.
Amy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard; her children, Kathleen of Canton, Minn., Dennis of Kalona, Peg (David) Ollinger of Wind Lake, Wis., Becky Granneman of Fairfield and Richard (Mitch) of Fairfax; five grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, Heath, Gretchen and Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Keegan, Kobe and Adelyn; sister in-law, Rexene Andrle; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kathryn; two grandchildren; brother, Stanley Andrle; and brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Regis and Mardi Voss.
Amy retired from the Fairfax State Savings Bank after more than 40 years of service. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fairfax and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cooking for her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Lakeview Village, Colonial Manor and Essence of Life Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library.
