Miskimen, Lorene C.
Lorene C. Miskimen, 89, of 3427 Amanda Ct. NW, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Charles Stevens will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
Survivors include her husband, Carroll, one daughter, Cheryl (Craig) McCormick of Cedar Rapids; a son, Douglas (Chris) of Solon; and one brother, Forrest (Joanne) Parker of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brian and Brett McCormick.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Birdella Linkenback; and a brother, Harvey Parker.
Lorene was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Jonesburg, Mo., the daughter of Harvey and Clara Kobusch Parker. She married Carroll K. Miskimen on June 16, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. Lorene was a clerk for the Board of Education for 12 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of First Church of the Open Bible. Lorene enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, reading cook books and was also a former member of Eastern Star.
Lorene was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her friends and beloved family.
A memorial fund has been established.
