Mischelle Rios, 57, of Iowa City, died on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics surrounded by family.
Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 30 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Coralville with Father Chuck Adam officiating. Family will greet guests from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Immediately following the service, the family invites guests to a luncheon in the parish hall at St. Thomas More. Burial will follow the luncheon at Sunny Ridge Cemetery, east of Sigourney, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward the Rios family in care of John Rios.
Mischelle is survived by her daughter, Amelia Rios-Van Saun; father, John Rios; siblings, Kimberly Rios, Julia Rios, Jody Phillips and John McKillip; nieces and nephews, Jeana, Levi, Bronson, Marshall, Jade, Logan, Lily, Binnie, Sidnie, McKynna and Brycelon; uncles, Frank Rios, Tom Rios, Roy Rios, Henry Rios, Benny Rios and Tom Schwenke; aunts, Geraldine Greiner, Gloria (Gary) Millikin, Gayle Nassar and Mary Sekula; former spouses, Jeff Bitterman and Ed Van Saun; and numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Rios, in 2003.
