Minor, Donald F.
Donald F. Minor, 84, of Hiawatha, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the home of his daughters. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, by the Rev. Neil Manternach. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will begin at 4:30 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.
Donald is survived by his children, Anita Minor and Marilyn Minor, both of Marion, and Marvin (Jeanette) Minor of Urbandale; grandchildren, Stephanie and Aaron Minor, both of Urbandale; and sisters, Velma Ramsey of Venice, Calif., and Rosemary Howland of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katherine; sister, Gladys Timmerman; and brother, Richard Minor.
Donald was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, to Edward and Mary (Maresh) Minor. He married Katherine Minar there on July 8, 1950. Donald was employed by St. Luke's Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Donald enjoyed the Hiawatha Community Center and played bingo at Bali Hai Estates.
