Minor, Carolyn Regina
Carolyn Regina Minor, 68, of Palo, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in her home, with her family by her side, following an extended illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Jude Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, where friends may visit from 2 to 6 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.
Survivors include her husband, George, of 48 years; three children, Stephen of Palo, Denise of Overland Park, Kan., and Philip (Jennifer) of Hiawatha; four grandchildren, Tyler Minor and Elena, Kayla and Janelle Minor; four brothers, Dennis (Sharon) of Henderson, Nev., Charles S. (Cindy) of Palo, Paul (Micheline) of Lincoln, Neb., and Michael (Julie) of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Mary E. Young and Phyllis (John) Harris, both of Palo, and Ann (Christopher) Young of Sedalia, Mo.; mother-in-law, Alberta Minor, sister-in-law, Jane (David) Henecke, and brother-in-law, Dick (Pat) Minor, all of Palo; and 22 nieces and nephews.
Carolyn's parents preceded her in death.
Carolyn was born Oct. 16, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of George V. and Mary Megivern Young. She married George A. Minor on April 22, 1961, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fairfax. She was employed by the Palo Cooperative Telephone Association for many years, retiring in 2006. She was a charter member of St. Jude Catholic Church, a member of its rosary society and the director of St. Joseph Cemetery.
Carolyn enjoyed spending summers fishing in northern Minnesota, golfing, studying her family history and antiques.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
