Miner, Alvina (Bea)
Alvina (Bea) Miner, 90, of Anamosa, passed away after a long illness on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
Alvina was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Cass Township, Jones County, near Anamosa, Iowa, the fourth child of eight children of Henry John Johnson and Minnie May (Reed) Johnson. She was married to Harry Lee Crandall in 1938 at St. Paul Evangelical Church, Anamosa. He died in 1960. She married Harold Dean Miner on March 27, 1976, at the United Methodist Church, Anamosa. He died in 1983.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; five siblings, Kenneth, Leonard, Maxine Nordmann, Wilma Parson and Wilber Johnson; and a brother-in-law, William Wratten.
Alvina is survived by her sons, Marshall Crandall and Stephen Crandall; granddaughter, Meghan (William) Maegdlin; grandson, Mitchell Crandall; great-grandchildren, Haley, Trenton and Cain Crandall; sister, Dorothy Wratten; brother, Kermit (Barbara) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Alvina worked for 28 years at the Anamosa State Penitentiary and was a member of the Professional Business Women and Local Chapter of Wapsiketa (Izaak Walton League). She loved game shows, working in the garden and cooking, baking and the time she could spend with her family.
Bea will be missed dearly by her family and friends for she was always there for them.
The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the United Methodist Church in Anamosa. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa.
