Minder Sr., Jack H.
Jack H. Minder Sr., 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at Living Center West following a long illness. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, of 54 years; his father, Gene E. Minder of Cedar Rapids; a son, Jack H. (Linda) Minder Jr. of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Jill (Brian) Carlson of Vinton; a sister, Irma Jean Turner of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Edward Minder of Kearney, Mo.; six grandchildren, Jason Minder, Lindsay Minder, Allison Gaines, Ian Gaines, Tami Carlson and Jake Carlson, and two great-grandchildren, Aidyn and Jordyn Gaines. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor Minder; and a daughter, Joan Gaines.
Jack was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Muscatine, the son of Gene and Eleanor Minder. He married Donna J. Usher on Feb. 13, 1957, in Cedar Rapids. Jack worked for the Quaker Oats Co. in packaging.
He was an active softball player and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Jack was a good man. His family was very important to him.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
