Minard Sr., Douglas

Douglas Minard Sr., 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Memorial Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at noon. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Teri L. Minard of Stillwater, Minn.; three sons, Tim (Michele) Minard of Clive, Iowa, Douglas E. (Sue) Minard of Lakeway, Texas and Michael W. (Angela) Minard of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Karma J. Martinson of Cedar Rapids and Delores (Don) Downs of Gladbrook, Iowa; four grandsons and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Douglas was born June 28, 1937, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Harold and Velma (Miller) Minard. He married Barbara Allbee on Aug. 17, 1958, in Marshalltown. Douglas's career was in industrial sales but he relished his time fishing, golfing and being involved with his children's and, in later years, his grandchildren's activities, including the Hawkeye Speed Skating Club and Ellis YMCA Youth Sports. He also was an avid Hawkeye fan.
