Milo C. Kasparek, 96, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House. Private family services will be at a later date in Czech National Cemetery. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Milo was born July 26, 1917, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Karel and Anna (Vrzal) Kasparek. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific. He married Violet J. Vogel April 6, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. Milo was a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier for over 35 years until his retirement. He enjoyed watching sports, going to see the Cubs and reading magazines and newspapers.
Milo is survived by his sons, Kenneth A. (Joan) Kasparek of Fair Grove, Mo., Michael C. Kasparek of Miami Gardens, Fla., and Jeffrey J. Kasparek of Nepean, Ontario, Canada; two daughters, Susan K. Kasparek and Penny L. Lucca, both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Violet Lucca, Stacy (Robert) Abben, Erin Kasparek, Mackenzie Kasparek and Nicholas (Yoko) Kasparek; and one great-grandson, Liam Abben.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Violet; his brothers, John and Leonard Zrust; his sisters, Frantisek Zrust and Frances Williams; and a stepfather, George Viktor.
