Millsap, Kenneth E.
Kenneth E. Millsap, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Funeral Mass: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, by the Rev. Phil Thompson. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday after 12:30 p.m. at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Millsap; his children, Mark (Cheryl) Millsap of Olathe, Kan., Karol (Barry) Davis of Lake Dallas, Texas, Mary (John) Klein of Sykesville, Md., and Kent (Ana) Millsap of Hiawatha, Iowa; his grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) DeSotel, Kathryn (Pete) Glasser, Michaela (Mike) Gunsaulus, Reid (Stephanie) DeSotel, Sarah Udelhofen, Alison (Monte) Headley, Jenna Udelhofen, Shannon Davis, Anafer Millsap, Easton Davis, Keana Millsap, Keara Millsap and Kael Millsap; and his great-grandchildren, Abagail DeSotel, Nick Sapin and Madden Gunsaulus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Susan DeSotel; and a brother, Bruce Brainard Millsap.
Kenneth was born May 19, 1932, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Ardis (Brainard) Millsap. He married Margaret Eileen (Marlene) Cahalan on Oct. 22, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Kenneth was a detective for the Cedar Rapids Police Department from April 1958 to March 1981, and was co-owner of M & J Feed in Cedar Rapids with his wife Marlene.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a member of the Fairfax American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing chess and doing crossword puzzles. He was an avid reader, boater and Hawkeye, Bears and Cubs fan.
More than anything else, Kenneth loved spending time with his family - especially his grandchildren.
