Mills, Jeannette D.
Jeannette D. Mills, 98, of Iowa City, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at Briarwood Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial to follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation will one hour before the service Friday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established in Jeannette's memory.

Jeannette D. Sybil was born May 1, 1913, in Oasis, Iowa, the daughter of John and Lottie (Burke) Sybil. Following graduation from City High School in 1931, in Iowa City, she attended and graduated from Irish Business College here. She worked at the State Hygienic Laboratory at the Oakdale Campus of the University of Iowa for a number of years, retiring in 1975. Jeannette married George Tofting in April 1934, in Iowa City. George died on June 9, 1969. She later married Lloyd Mills in March 1972, also in Iowa City. Lloyd died Nov. 29, 1993.
Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Gary Hansen of Lead, S.D.; two grandchildren, Jeff and his wife, Beth Hansen of Coralville and Tracy and her husband, Dave Burns of Westlake, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren, Jessica Hansen, Alexa Hansen, Maggie Burns, Paige Burns and Jack Burns.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and two brothers, John and Robert Burke.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Jeanette's family and her services.
