Tommy Dean Millhollin was born Nov. 19, 1941, in Iowa City, the son of Kenneth and Selma (Hess) Millhollin. He was raised in Jefferson, Iowa, and entered the United States Army in 1964. Following service, he returned to Iowa and married Patricia “Pat” Auen on April 8, 1967, in Carroll, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Iowa City, where Tom began a long career that spanned nearly 40 years with the former H.P. Smith Company, presently known as Loparex, retiring five years Tom enjoyed fishing, cross-stitching, painting ceramics and coin collecting. He recently received his six gallon donor award for donating blood, he donated as often as he could “to give back for when he was in need” as he would say. Tom was a man of patience, a jokester to anyone and everyone, a kid at heart, the MacGyver of making it work no matter what, and the eternal optimist on life, but most of all the best friend, brother, husband, dad and grandpa you could have!
His family includes his three children, Jill Millhollin (Samuel Lockett), Mary Fairholm (Jeff) and Nick Millhollin (Emily), all of North Liberty; 10 grandchildren, Cierra Millhollin, Jacquelyn, Olivia, Ethan and Brody Fairholm, Mack, Macy, Lainey, Lylie and Kinsey Millhollin; Tom's siblings, Jean Mundorf (Bob) of Vacaville, Calif., Steve Millhollin (Marilyn) of Franklin, Tenn., Kris McSpadden (Don) of Cedar Rapids, and Pam Hoffman (Larry) of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat; and siblings, Joyce Marks, Linda Stangl, John Millhollin and Mark Millhollin.
