Miller, Joey A.

Joey A. Miller, 31, of rural Kalona, died from injuries suffered in an auto accident Wednesday, March 30, 2011, near Kalona. Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Monday, April 4, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. Monday until the services and there will be a time following the services also.

Joey Ann Johnson was born March 8, 1980, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, the daughter of Lloyd A. and Karen J. (Rouse) Johnson. She attended schools in Iowa City, graduating from West High School in the class of 1999. She then attended Kirkwood Community College. Joey was united in marriage to Matthew R. Miller in Iowa City. She had worked at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for a time, but most recently she has loved being “Mom.” Her family was the most important thing in her life, but she also enjoyed photography, arts and crafts, dancing, watching and listening to movies and music from the 1980s.

Her family includes her husband, Matthew; four children, Mia Elizabeth, Sawyer Lee, Riley Isabella and Phoebe Ann; her parents, Lloyd and Karen Johnson of Iowa City; her siblings, Joshua Johnson (Olivia) of Hills, Jayme Clements (Keith) of Iowa City, Jacob Johnson (Jennifer) of Cedar Rapids and Joni Reed (Nathan Knappen) of Iowa City; grandparents, Eldon and Daisy Rouse of Spencer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Joey's memory.
