Miller, 'Joan' Arlyce
“Joan” Arlyce Miller, 72, of Cedar Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Carol Sundberg will officiate with burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Joan is survived by her parents, Lester and Delores Williams of Cedar Rapids; brother, Mark Williams of Cedar Falls; children, Tammy (Scott) Bradley of Marion, Randy (Vicki) Miller of Cedar Rapids, Vicky (Tom) Melsh of Mechanicsville and Rick (Christine) Miller of Amana; grandchildren, Donnie (Melanie) Bradley, Kara, Jessimine, Kaitlyn, Skylar, Brandan, Danny, Jessica, Jacob and Eugene; and one great-granddaughter, Nasya.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin “Bud” Miller on June 28, 1997.
Joan was born July 9, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lester and Delores (Welton) Williams. She married Melvin “Bud” on April 8, 1961, in Cedar Rapids. Joan was a teacher's associate in the College Community school system and later worked at Bishop's Buffet. Joan was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society and the Bishop's Buffet lunch group. She enjoyed her College Community lunch group, church activities, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; Joan was a go getter, always positive, on the move and enjoyed her life to the fullest. She was a loyal friend, loving mother, most dedicated daughter and will be greatly missed by all.
