Miller, Janet Kay
Janet Kay Miller, 64, of Coralville, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Janet was born June 9, 1945, in Iowa City, the daughter of Leonard and Elsie (Hasley) Welsh. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School in 1963. On June 9, 1964, Janet was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jim Miller, in Walford. The couple shared over 32 wonderful years together until Jim lost his courageous battle with leukemia in 1996. Janet devoted 40 years of her life providing loving day care for many, many families.
Janet is survived by her two children: daughter, Kelly Ben-David (Steve Blount) of Iowa City and son, David (Nikki) Miller of Iowa City; two sisters, Kathy Etscheidt of Newhall and Carol (Gary) Lehman of Norway, Iowa; a brother, Leonard (Paula) Welsh of Swisher; the pride and joy of her life, her grandchildren, Shally, Charlie and Grace; her beloved sister-in-law, Phyllis Pinzon (Colo) of Iowa City; and her wonderful Euchre card club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; and her parents.
