Miller, Earl Dee
Earl Dee Miller, 70, of North Liberty, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 24, at the Shueyville United Methodist Church Family Life Center, a gathering will start at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the church.
Earl was born on April 20, 1943, in Burlington, Iowa, to Lawrence and Margaret (Wickham) Miller. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School in 1961. Earl married Arlene Bowman on June 5t 1971, at Shueyville United Methodist Church. Earl's passion was playing music for over 55 years, his first band at the age of 15, was called the Keen Teen. He truly loved Iowa Hawkeye sports, especially football, which they have had season tickets for the past 27 years. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Earl loved his home in rural North Liberty for the past 37 years with Arlene. Earl and Arlene were inseparable, if you saw one you saw the other.
Earl is survived by his wife and best friend of 42 years, Arlene; children, DeAlleyn (Steve) Wyman of Cedar Rapids, Stefanie (Tim) Rossmeisl of Minneapolis, Larry (Julie) of Kansas City, Mo., Chad (Amy) of North Liberty and Jason (JoLynn) of Cedar Rapids; and grandchildren, Michelle, Trevor, Jordan, Kirsten, Zac, Mitchell, Alex, Brandon, Raquel, Tess and Jayden.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Donald and Esther Bowman.
Memorial may be directed Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade St. or the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Cancer Center in Earl's name.
