Millard "Bud" Edward Berry Jr., 68, of Swisher, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in his home. Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, where full military rites will be conducted by the Iowa Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Bud was born Oct. 22, 1947, in Louisville, Ky., the son of Millard and Ruth Marie (Watters) Berry. He served in the U.S. Navy, as well as in the Iowa Army National Guard. Bud was united in marriage to Randine Loftsgard. To this union two sons were born, James and Daniel Berry. They were later divorced. Bud then was united in marriage to Teresa Richards on Nov. 3, 1984, in Cedar Rapids. To this union one son, Nicholas Berry, was born.
Bud worked as a machinist at FMC Linkbelt Speeder and Goss for many years. He was the owner and operator of Berry Trucking. He enjoyed car racing, where he raced a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra at many area tracks. Bud loved being outside, playing cards and euchre with his many friends, as well as the time spent with his family.
Bud was a member of Keystone American Legion.
Bud is survived by his wife of over 31 years, Teresa; his sons, James Berry, Daniel Berry and Nicholas (Marla) Berry, all of Cedar Rapids; his cherished grandson, Walter Berry; his siblings, Clarence "Buck" Berry, David (Norma) Berry and Leanna Burkhart; his sister-in-law, JoAnn Berry; as well as his nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Berry; and a brother-in-law, Allen Burkhart.
