Miles Tredway, 91, of Center Junction passed away Feb. 14, 2018, at Mercy Hospice House in Hiawatha.
His memorial service will be held at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 16 at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home in Wyoming from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be held at the Wyoming Cemetery with military honors.
Miles was born on Nov. 30, 1926, to Moody Wayne and Mary Elizabeth (Myers) Tredway in Estherville, Iowa. He moved with his family to Olin, Iowa, as a sophomore and graduated from Olin High School. He married Rose Wallace on June 21, 1969, in Oxford Junction, Iowa. He worked as a farmer for most of his life and was the Jones County supervisor for District 5 for 20 years.
Miles was a member of Onslow First Presbyterian Church, a Shriner in the mini patrol, a member of the Anamosa Masonic Lodge #46, member of the American Legion Wyoming Post #259, on the board of Heritage Agency on Aging, and on the board of Abbe Center for Community Mental Health. He served honorably and faithfully in the United States Army and was a medic during the Korean Conflict while stationed in Germany.
His memory will be cherished by his children, Rozanne Phillips of Tacoma, Wash., Robert (Annette) Michaelis of Anamosa, Ruth (Terry) Campbell of Jackson, Tenn., Ramona Harris of Wapello, Rhonda Simmons of Monticello, Ross (Twila) Michaelis of Anamosa and Mary Tredway of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ilsie Wallace and Lorraine Wallace; and brothers-in-law, Dale (Jeannette) Wallace and Lavern Farris.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Rosemary (Jay) Kinney; brother, Dudley (Donna) Tredway; grandson, Jackson Simmons; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his family in his honor.
