MILDRED CATHERINE SUCHOMEL

Mildred Catherine Suchomel, 97, of Tipton, formerly of the Cedar Bluff area, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the church. There will be a time of food and fellowship at St. Mary's hall before going to St. Bridget's Cemetery in Solon for the graveside service. All memorials in Mildred's honor may be directed to the Cedar Manor Expansion fund. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Mildred was born March 12, 1919, to Frank and Emma (Ciha) Suchomel, in the rural Cedar Bluff area. Mildred attended a rural country school before attending business college in Cedar Rapids. She then moved to California for a few years where she was employed as a secretary for various businesses before returning home to the farm and helping her father run the Cedar Bluff Store. Mildred and her brother, Frank, later took over the store and she stayed on the farm until moving to Tipton in 2008.
Mildred is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Lee) Fishback; brother, Maynard (Marilyn) Suchomel; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Laverne, Frank, Bernard, Dale and Alvin; and sister, Mary Moore.
