Mildred A. Schlichte, 90, of Dyersville, Iowa, died Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Monday, June 18, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held
at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate.
Millie was born May 22, 1928, in Petersburg, Iowa, the daughter of John and Catherine (Nurre) Klostermann. She married Alvin Schlichte on May 20, 1948, in Petersburg, Iowa. Together they raised their family and farmed near New Vienna/Bankston until moving to Dyersville in 1987. Millie's faith was very important to her. Her biggest pride and joy are her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Kathy (Marty) Helle, Dianne (Ted) Kluesner, Deb (Loras) Digmann, John (Kelly) Schlichte and Ann (Todd) Kelleher, all of Dubuque, Jeff (Teresa) Schlichte of Peosta, Dan (Mary) Schlichte of Cedar Rapids, Margie Ament and Jim (Susie) Schlichte, both of Dyersville, and Pat (Donna) Schlichte of Hopkinton; 24 grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Smith, Chris (Michelle) Helle, Nick Helle (fiancee Alexandra), Greg (Ally) Schlichte, Brad (Shannon) Schlichte, Tim Schlichte (special friend Thao Nguyen), Jamie (Chad) Saville, Nicole (Joe) Schmitt, Megan Freiburger (fiance Nick Crow), Katie (Tony) Gerdis, Ellie Ament (special friend Ted Tranel), Jill (Ben) Anderson, Michael (Jill) Schlichte, Julie (Joe) Gansen, Wes (Melissa) Digmann, Jonathan Digmann, Steven Digmann (special friend Rachel), Kevin (Sara) Kloser, Lauren (Austin) Lloyd, Emily Kelleher, Kelsey and Karley Schlichte and Natalie and Aubrey Schlichte; three stepgrandchildren, Jason (Maria) Millage, Jill (Kevin) Luders and Jerry (Bonnie) Thompson; 28 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Jenny Conrad of Dyersville and Sr. Marian Klostermann, OSF of Dubuque; and in-laws, Ardella Schlichte of Edgewood and Alma Willenborg of Dyersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin, in 2009; son-in-law, Don "Pooch" Ament; two grandchildren, Jeremy Helle and T.J. Kelleher; siblings, Everett (Bernice) Klostermann, Zita (Clement) Lansing, Helen (Charles) Wessels, Dorothy (Allie) Olberding, Irvin Conrad, Walter (Helen) Klostermann and Donna (Bob) Juran; and in-laws, Clarence (Julia) Schlichte, Joe (Germaine) Schlichte, Lorraine (Mark) Pins, Elmer Schlichte, Tony Willenborg, Verna (Art) Klostermann and Bernard Schlichte.
The family would like to thank the Dyersville Bi-County Ambulance Service, Hospice of Dubuque and the Stonehill Care Center staff. Also a special thank-you to Ellen, Angie and Janet, and John and Deb Denekas.
