Mildred "Millie" Hosch, 84, of Cascade, died in her home at 10:06 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Friends and relatives may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a wake service will be at 2 p.m. They also may call after 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be at
Calvary Cemetery, Cascade.
Millie was born Aug. 23, 1932, in Prairie Creek Township, Dubuque County, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Pottebaum) Trumm. She graduated in 1950 from the former St. Mary's High School in Cascade. On Aug. 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to Edwin G. Hosch at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Temple Hill, rural Cascade. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2009. The couple farmed the Century family farm in Richland Township, Jones County.
She was a member of St. Matthias Parish and was a Franciscan Prayer Affiliate.
She is survived by six children, Ralph (Julie) Hosch of Cascade, Amy (Chuck) Noonan of Bernard, Lori (Adrian) Knuth of Anamosa, Peter Hosch of Cascade and Carolyn (Jim) Sigmon and Sue Ellen Hosch, both of Marion; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Yanda of Anamosa and Lois (Lloyd) Manternach of Worthington; sisters-in-law, Betty Trumm and Ida Trumm, both of Cascade, Rosie Koopmann of Delhi, Katie Knipper of Dyersville, Lois Hosch of New Vienna and Julie Hosch of Cascade; a brother-in-law, George Knepper of Cascade; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Millie was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Ann Hosch, on Dec. 11, 2009; her parents; father- and mother-in-law, Peter and Katherine Hosch; two sisters, Mary Reiter and Alma Knepper; three brothers, Leroy Trumm, Robert Trumm and John Trumm; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Clare Trumm, Rosene Trumm, Fred Reiter, Lawrence Yanda, George Hosch, Harry and Irene Hosch, John Hosch, Margaret and Don Koopmann, John Koopmann and Larry Knipper.
The family would like to thank Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and Above and Beyond Hospice Care for their kindness and care.
