Des Moines
Mildred A. Heinze, 86, of Des Moines, formerly of Amana, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Amana Church, Amana, with Elder Betsy Momany officiating. Visitation: 10 a.m. until service time at the Amana Church. Burial will be
at the Middle Amana Cemetery, Middle Amana. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Oscar) Rosales of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Lindsey Ralston of Johnston, Caleb Ralston of Palo, Seth Ralston of Des Moines, Sarah Rosales of Kansas City, Mo., and David Rosales of the Quad Cities; and one great-granddaughter, Maddie Dirksen of Johnston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, in 2005; a daughter, Carol Heinze-Ralston, in 2017; two sisters, Mary Alida Taylor and Lillian Woods; and a brother, Robert Vosdingh.
Mildred Ann Vosdingh was born Sept. 30, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John and Mildred A. Navin Vosdingh. She graduated from high school in Cedar Rapids. Mildred married James Heinze on Sept. 3, 1955, at St. James United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. In her early days she worked for an optometrist in Cedar Rapids. Most of her married years she worked in the cafeteria for Amana Refrigeration in Amana. Mildred loved crocheting, making doilies, knitting and going out for dinner. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on television.
