Milda Marie Redmond, 85, of Anamosa, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at the Anamosa Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories officiated by Certified Celebrant Julie Freese. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. In Milda's memory, casual dress is preferred.
Milda was born June 26, 1930, in Clarence, Iowa, to Merle and Malinda (Moeller) Long. She was united in marriage to Philip Farr on Nov. 20, 1948. They were later divorced. She married Gordon L. Redmond on June 26, 1959, in Wyoming, Iowa. Gordon and Milda enjoyed 36 years of marriage together.
Milda worked in food service at St. Luke's from 1968 until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of the Eagles and VFW auxiliaries. She treasured the time spent with her husband and family at their home on Leisure Lake where she enjoyed fishing. She loved to travel and play the slot machines at casinos. She enjoyed sharing time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Milda was a kind person. She would do anything for anyone and never had an unkind word to say. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Leumpert of Redwing, Minn., Larry (Barb) Farr of Anamosa, Peggy (Dale Rocarek) Redmond of Austin, Texas, and Malinda Redmond of Anamosa; daughter-in-law, Mary Redmond of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Marge) Long of Lost Nation; and sister, Elda Kay Studt of Bertram.
Milda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon in 1995; son, Gary Redmond in 2008; as well as son-in-law, Fred Leumpert in 2010.
