MIKEL "MIKE" THOMAS

Mikel "Mike" Thomas, 46, of Central City, formerly of Marion, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, at the funeral home conducted by certified celebrant Diane Thovson. Burial will follow at East Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg.
Mike is survived by his wife, Chris Thomas of Central City; two sons, Nikolas Thomas of Gilbert, Ariz., and John Craven of Central City; daughter, Erika (Joel) Olson of Newhall; grandchildren, Carson, Hadley and Grant Olson; mother, Susan Thomas of Marion; sister, Michele Thomas of Cedar Rapids; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Howard Gale Thomas Jr.; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Mike was born Dec. 31, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Howard and Susan (Miller) Thomas Jr. On Sept. 21, 2002, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Chris Stark. Mike worked for Cargill at the Otis Road location.
He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 238. Mike enjoyed time on his boat fishing, as well as being with his dogs. Most of all, he loved time spent with his family and grandkids.
Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
