Mihm, Florence Jean (Kaster)

Florence Jean (Kaster) Mihm, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. The family will greet friends one hour before services Saturday at the church. Burial: 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Pine View Cemetery in Delaware, Iowa.

Survivors include her son, Mark (Sandi) Mihm of Harrison, Ark.; daughter, Lori (Tim) Townsend of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Johnston, Joe (Danielle) Mihm, and Jeremy (Kristi Pritchett) Mihm of Denison, Texas, Will and Alexandria Townsend of Cedar Rapids; five great-grandchildren of Denison, Texas; and a sister-in law, Darlene Wells of Maquoketa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; a brother, Roy Wells; and a sister, Mary Lou (Wells) House. Florence was born Feb. 26, 1935, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Hiram and Lavena (Dean) Kaster. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in Dubuque, Iowa in 1954. Florence received several scholastic art awards throughout her high school career and had her art on display at the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburg, Pa. She was united in marriage to Bernard Mihm on Feb. 27, 1960, in Dubuque. Bernard preceded her in death Nov. 2, 2000.

Florence enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.
