Mihalopoulos, Vasili (Bill)
Vasili (Bill) Mihalopoulos, 95, died Saturday night, Oct. 20, 2012, from complications due to multiple myeloma.
Bill was born in a small village in Greece. In 1967, he came to Iowa City and opened The Best Steakhouse in downtown Iowa City.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marijo; son, Ari; daughter, Dimitra; and son-in-law, Luke.
He is also survived by an older sister in Greece and younger brother in Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and close friends, most of whom were given nicknames.
Per Bill's wishes, the family had a live funeral party for him in June, complete with Greek food and belly dancers. There will be a small family gathering at a later date. Information about that will be posted at www.steakhousebilly.wordpress.com where you can also find videos of his June party as well as a brief video about his life.
