Middendorf, Donna M.

Donna M. Middendorf, 82, of Solon, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at her home. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Brosh Chapel, Solon. Visitation will be one hour before the service beginning at 10 a.m. Following interment at Oakland Cemetery, a luncheon will be held at noon at the Solon United Methodist Church for family and friends.

Donna was born May 25, 1931, in Toivola, Mich., the daughter of Earl and Verla (VanGorder) Russell. Donna married Rowland Somermeyer on April 23, 1952, who preceded her in death in 1959. She subsequently married Robert Middendorf on June 17, 1961, who preceded her in death in 2009. She worked for 20 years at the Solon State Bank, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Solon United Methodist Church.

Donna is survived by her brother, James (Joan) Russell of Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rowland Somermeyer and Robert Middendorf; a son, Rowland Somermeyer Jr.; three sisters, Helen Lundgeren, Marjorie Anderson and Rhoda “Jane” Carroll; and two brothers, Robert Russell and Darrell Russell.
