MICHELLE "SHELLY" (ROGERS) MEYER

Michelle Lynn Meyer, 56, formerly of Iowa City, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
To celebrate Michelle's life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Iowa City, with the Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Family committal service will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kris Rogers Memorial Cancer Research Fund: University of Iowa Center for Advancement.
Michelle was born on June 23, 1961, in Iowa City, Iowa, the third born of six children to Jerrie and Dorothy (Dee) Rogers. She attended Regina and City high schools, then earned her degree in public relations from the University of Northern Iowa.
She married Kent Meyer in Iowa City. They lived in Cedar Rapids and later moved to Fort Mill, S.C., where they raised their two sons, Jeremy and William (Will).
Michelle had a passion for learning and shared it with all who were blessed to know her. Through the act of home-schooling, she extended her own thirst for knowledge to her two sons. Michelle embraced organic living and was a true lover of life. She always chose to live life her way, sometimes out of the box, always focusing on the best way of taking care of her family.
Michelle had a strong will, a gentle spirit and a generous heart, a most perfect combination that allowed her to support those who needed her wisdom and guidance. Michelle had a keen awareness and willingness to give to those in need. Michelle enjoyed classical music, spending time with her family, daily walks, traveling and watching movies.
Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Kent; their two boys, Jeremy of San Francisco, Calif., and Will of Richardson, Texas; mother, Dorothy Rogers; siblings, Julie (Rick) Berry, Mary (Bill) Ticer, Laurie (Amy) Rogers and Steve "Buck" (Carole) Rogers, all of Arizona; father- and mother-in-law, Jim and Madeline Meyer of Odebolt, Iowa; brother-in-law, Jay (Debi) Meyer of Excelsior, Minn.; nieces and nephews, Kami (Andrea) Berry, Ryan (Katie) Berry, Kaycie Berry, Kristian Berry, Travis (Caitlin) Dyer, Taylor Dyer, Davis Strefling, Jacob Becerra, Hailey Rogers, Corey Rogers, Emma Rogers, Calvin Meyer and Riley Meyer.
Michelle was preceded in death by grandparents Ralph and Helen Dee and Harley and Mona Rogers; her father, Jerrie Rogers; sister, Kris Rogers;, and infant sister-in-law, Julie Meyer.
