Michele Casey, 50, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at home on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, 520 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at First Assembly of God, Cedar Rapids. Pastor Dave DeHaan will officiate. Burial: Coggon Cemetery, Coggon, Iowa.
Michele was born March 12, 1967, to Donald and Marjorie (Lindaman) Laipple in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School and Iowa State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Michele married Mike Casey on July 17, 1993. She loved being a stay-at-home mom, watching her children's sporting events and gardening. Michele was a member of First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids, and was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister and friend.
Michele is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Dylan, Nicole, Sean and Olivia of Cedar Rapids; mother, Marjorie Laipple of Cedar Falls; sister, Pam Laipple of Cedar Falls; brother, Brad Laipple of St. Charles, Mo.; and nieces and nephews, Grace and Blake Laipple, Lance (Lindy) Ibeling, Lindsey (John) Richter, Daniel (Tammy) Purdy, Matt (Kelly) Purdy, Christine Jones and Heather (Pat) Weiland.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald "Bill" Laipple; and her sister, Debra Ibeling.
A memorial fund has been established.
