Michael Martin (Ziggy) Azinger, 56, of Cedar Rapids, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, May 4, 2015. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Ziggy is survived by his mother, Barbara Azinger of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Dan, David and Bruce, all of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Lori (Terry) Hagmeier and Chris Keiper, both of Cedar Rapids, and Julie Sanchez of Griffith, Ind.; his girlfriend, Robin Holub of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Thomas.
Michael was born Nov. 3, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Thomas and Barbara Nagel Azinger. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1977 and worked in construction most of his life. Ziggy enjoyed sports, especially watching the Chicago Cubs. He loved fishing and hunting and was a very skilled carpenter. He was always hard-working, enjoyed being with other people and was very well liked.
