Michael A. Wapp, 63, of Hiawatha, passed away in his home on April 10, 2015. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 13, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha. The Rev. Daniel Krueger will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Sally; daughters, Kimberly Garin and husband Ben of Waukee, Christine Clark and husband Kyle of Cedar Rapids and Katie Metcalf and husband Jason of North Liberty; his grandchildren, Logan and Carly Clark; his brothers, James Wapp and wife Korene of Beattie, Kan., and Daniel Wapp and wife Carolyn of Orlando, Fla.; as well as extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike was born July 12, 1951, in Seneca, Kan., the son of Arthur A. and Mary (Gose) Wapp. He graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., with a BBA with an emphasis in insurance. He was united in marriage to Sally Koehn on June 14, 1980, in Belle Plaine, Iowa. They were blessed with three daughters and made their home in Hiawatha. Mike was employed for over 31 years in the insurance industry with the majority of his career with AEGON / Transamerica. He was currently an agent with the Strellner Agency.
Mike enjoyed playing golf, doing crosswords and the outdoors. Above all, his greatest enjoyment and love was time spent with his family.
He will be greatly missed.
