Michael Edwin Shedenhelm, 53, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, April 22, 2016, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Inurnment with military rites: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Karmen; and two sisters, Cynthia (Tom) Haring and Becky (Garry) Copeland, both of Cedar Rapids. He also is survived by four nephews and one niece, Tyler, Ryley and Abby Copeland and Andrew and Christopher Haring; and his good friend, Scott Kellogg.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Mike was born Oct. 15, 1962, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1981 and later from Iowa State University in 1999. Mike enjoyed hunting and tinkering with cars. He was active in Toys for Tots and proudly served in the Marine Corps.
He especially enjoyed the time spent with his beloved family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
