Michael J. Ressler, 61, of Cascade, died peacefully of natural causes Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at his home. Friends and relatives of Michael may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade. Services for Michael will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade with the Rev. Msgr. Wayne A. Ressler and the Rev. Mark A. Ressler presiding.
Michael was born Feb. 26, 1953, in Cascade, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Marie (Klocker) Ressler. He received his education at Aquin High School. Mike went on to work as a plasterer and mason, where he enjoyed working with his brother, John. Mike was known as an artist of the trade. Mike enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, hunting, farming and was an avid reader. His craft of bringing stories to life and creating laughter will forever be remembered.
He is survived by five children, Elizabeth (Isaac) Hammerly of Decorah, Michael (Ashley) Ressler of Cascade, Laura (Morgan) Ryan of Bernard, Alex Ressler and Evan Ressler, both of Cascade; six grandchildren, Grace, Emmitt and Everett and Ryan, Addalynn and Briggs Hammerly; and four siblings, Joan (Jon) McCarron and Margaret Delaney, both of Dubuque, Janet (David) Clemen of Dyersville and John (Ginny) Ressler of Cascade.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Lincoln J. Hammerly; and one brother-in-law, Donald Delaney.
In lieu of flowers, a Michael J. Ressler memorial fund has been established.
