Mike Recker, 54, of Frisco, Texas, formerly of Marion, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015. A celebration of life gathering will be at Red Cedar Lodge in Squaw Creek Park in Marion on Wednesday, April 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (6034 Ohio Dr., Frisco, Texas).
Mike was born Nov. 15, 1960, to James and Joyce (Kurt) Recker. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1979.
Mike is survived by his three sisters, Victoria Hanna (Tim), Angela Kindig (Jim) and Amy White (Bill); and a brother, Douglas (Heidi) Recker. He also is survived by nieces and nephews, Greg Hanna (Stacy), Jennifer Hanna, Rob Hanna (Chelsea), Allison Kindig, Boede White, Cassandra White, Madison Recker, Peyton Recker and Nicholas Recker; great-niece, Aubrey Hanna; and great-nephew, Rowland Hanna.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Mary Sue.
Mike's untimely death has left his family and friends deeply saddened. Those who knew Mike will remember him as a kind-hearted, generous man, with an infectious smile.
Mike was a self-employed mason and a skilled and creative craftsman. Mike was generous with his time, his talents and always the first to lend a helping hand. He was the lead volunteer on the construction of several area churches in the communities in which he lived over the years.
Mike spent his spare time fishing, traveling and making people laugh.
He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate and blessed to call him friend or brother.
We ask that you remember Mike with one of the simple pleasures you may have shared with him – a laugh, a cry, a prayer, a good time or meal.
