Michael J. Pollock, 55, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Memorial services with military rites will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese will officiate. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include his wife, Michele; his children, Amanda Jones (Bear) and William VanScoy, both of Cedar Rapids, Meghan (Steven) Bochniak and Misty (Jared Wilmeth) McCrory, both of Creston, and Mellody (Tim) Freeman of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his parents, James and Mary Pollock of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Marc (Nikki) Pollock of Iowa City; and a sister, Shelly (Al) Gardner of Cedar Rapids. He also is survived by 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a nephew, Brent Gardner; and two nieces, Starr Oseguera and Hailey Pollock.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Mike was born on Aug. 9, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, the son of James and Mary Rundall Pollock. He married Michele Fry on May 18, 2013, in Louisa County. Mike worked in receiving at U.N.F.I. for over 17 years, retiring in 2015.
He was a member of the Marine Corps Motorcycle Club and proudly served in the Marine Corps. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, as well as working on it, fishing, the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt.
Mike was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Mike's name.
