Michael Oldaker, 58, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, with interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Rev. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 3 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where a parish vigil service will be held at 6 p.m.
Surviving are his mother, Doris; siblings, Donita Ketelsen (Jerry McElmeel), David (Jane) Oldaker, Doug Oldaker, Denise (Randy) Muller and Deb (Larry) Tedrow; a sister-in-law, LuAnn Oldaker, Coggon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don; and two brothers, Dan and Gary.
Michael Oldaker was born Feb. 27. 1955, in Grinnell,
Iowa, the son of Donald and Doris Healey Oldaker. Michael attended the Monticello Community Schools. He was later employed by Advancement Services in Monticello.
Mike participated in Special Olympics on several occasions. He loved sports, especially the Hawkeyes. He always looked forward to the Great Jones County Fair and Christmas. Mike tried to have as many birthdays as possible every year.
