Michael "Mike" Charles Cox, 61, of Marion, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 3, 2018. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the funeral home. The family will also greet friends one hour before services Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Troy Mills Cemetery.

Mike was born Jan. 23, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Charles and Sondra (Burnett) Cox. He graduated from Marion High School and was employed by W R Grace (Cryovac) and the city of Cedar Rapids. Mike was united in marriage on July 26, 1986, to Carol Black at Mount Hope in Jones County. He was a member of the Marion Christian Church and the Teamsters Union Local No. 238. Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, "family gatherings," music and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Nichole (Robby) Jack; sons, Logan (Makayla) Cox, Garrett (Caitlynn ) Cox and Zeb (Melissa) Dawson; grandchildren, Brody, Benjamin, Gracelyn and Gwendolyn Dawson, Lucas Michael Cox to be born in October 2018, and Jace and Zayne; mother and stepfather, Sondra and Caryln Knapp; stepmother, Shirley Cox; siblings, Joel (Vicki) Cox, Annette Wilson, Christopher (Jennifer) Cox, Andrew (Caryn) Cox, Steve Cox, David (Kelly) Cox, Robert (Bridget) Knapp and Roxanne Knapp; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Charles; brother, Randy Knapp; brother-in-law, Douglas Black; and his grandparents.
