Michael "Mike" Doran McClurg, 56, of Marion, passed away after a long battle with heart disease at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with his loving family by his side.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral service in Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha.
Mike was born Aug. 23, 1960, to DeVerne and Jennette McClurg in Bloomfield, Iowa. He got his associate degree from Kirkwood Community College. Mike worked as a test technician for Intermec and Rockwell Collins.
He loved bike riding he rode in RAGBRAI for 13 years and also loved to play basketball with his friends. Mike was a huge movie buff and loved going to see movies. His greatest love of all was his black Pontiac Trans Am.
Mike is survived by his mom, Jennette; his sister, Cynthia; uncle, Gary Joe (Jean) McClurg; aunts, Joann McClurg, Elaine McClurg and Betty Seymour; nephews, Matthew and Cameron Peterson; close friends, Mike Woods, Mark Woods, Barb Prouty, Steve Oberbroeckling and David McDaniel; many cousins; and many other friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and his nephew, Stephen Peterson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Foundation.
