Michael Lynn Reid, 69, of Marion, lost his courageous battle with cancer Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021. Services:
Private at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Certified Celebrant Dr. James Coyle. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Following the continued guidance from heath officials, physical distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields is required. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Michael was born May 19, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of William and Doris Reid. He wrestled and played football at Mount Vernon High School and graduated in 1971. Mike married Sandra Vanderlind on Jan. 7, 2000, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mike was a fun loving, tight-lipped, stubborn and ornery guy, but would lend a hand if he was asked. He enjoyed working on the family farm, hunting with his son Rob and friends. He enjoyed watching his family swim in his back yard pool. Mike retired from Evergreen Packaging in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 2016 after being employed for 42 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy; sister, Carolyn Lazenby; sister-in-law, Patricia Reid; sons, James (Kelly Lympus) Reid and Christopher (Billie) Reid; also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Doris Reid; sister, Jean Reid; brother, George Reid; brother-in-law, Harley Lazenby; and a son, Robert Reid. Please leave a message for the family on our web page, www.cedarmemorial.com under obituaries.
