Michael "Mike" Lynn Lynch was born Sept. 4, 1947, in Sterling, Mich., to Anthony Lynch and Frances (Kinzie) Lynch. In 1952, when he was 5, the family moved to Independence, Iowa, where Mike attended Country School and later La Porte City High School. He worked on his dad's farm until he went into the Army in 1966. Returning from the service in 1968, he went to work at Saginaw Steering Gear, Local UAW 699 in Saginaw, Mich. Mike worked as a committeeman and benefits representative for 31 years before retiring in 1999 at the age of 51.
Michael was united in marriage to Traci McQuarter of Pinconning, Mich., on April 19, 1995, and for the next 20 years they made their home in Crump, Mich. Michael loved people, dogs, hunting, fishing, boating and field trials. He was a member of Legion Post 239 in Crump, Mich., and a lifelong member of the Michigan United Field Trial Association.
Michael is survived by his wife of 19 years, Traci Lynch of Crump, Mich.; his mother, Frances Lynch of Shellsburg, Iowa; brothers, Dennis Lynch of Mesa, Ariz., and Charles Lynch of Mount Auburn, Iowa; sister, Patricia Lynch of Vinton, Iowa; foster sister, Becky McGarvey of Hudson, Iowa; son, Scott (Cheryl) Lynch of Beaverton, Mich.; grandson, Lance Corporal Derek Lynch of Beaverton, Mich., currently stationed in Romania; granddaughter, Shauna Lynch of Midland, Mich.; father and mother-in-law, Russell and Patricia McQuarter of Pinconning, Mich.; sister and brother-in-law, Nichole and Jim Sass; two very special nieces, Chloe and Maddie Sass of Auburn, Mich.; plus several cousins, nieces and nephews in Iowa and Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Lynch; his brother, Timothy Lynch; two foster sisters, Debbie Walker and Diana McCardle; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his beloved companion, "Little Russell."
Funeral service and military honors were held Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at 7 p.m. from Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home, Pinconning, Mich., with Pastor Roger Bauer presiding and cremation following.
