Michael J. Kelsh, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died at his home on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015. Services: 2 p.m. Monday at St. Matthew Catholic Church by the Rev. David Beckman. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, and on Monday after 1 p.m. at the church.
Michael is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Thomas) Williams of Humble, Texas, and Amanda (Eric) Lynch of Waxhaw, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Jonathon, Patrick, Madaline, Thomas, Andrew, Benjamin, Abigail, Claire and Devin; two brothers, Jack (Mary Beth) Kelsh of Kansas City, Mo., and Jim Kelsh of Mount Pleasant, Mich.; two aunts, Anne Brems of Cedar Rapids and Helen Benning of Des Moines; nephew, John (Debbie) Kelsh of Overland Park, Kan.; and niece, Lori (Tom) Jacobs of Parkland, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Michael Joseph was born on Sept. 23, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, the son of John and Madaline Kennedy Kelsh. He graduated from Mount Mercy College and then served in the U.S. Army. He married Ingrid Blomquist on Oct. 7, 1968, in Karlsrure, Germany. They later divorced.
Michael loved fishing, especially for catfish, which he kept to eat during Lent. He enjoyed playing the Powerball and dreamed about what to do with his winnings.
