Michael "Jack" Taylor, 20, of Monticello, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a short illness. Due to the current health pandemic, private funeral services will be held for the family Monday, Dec. 28, at United Church in Monticello. The Rev. Ed Moreano will officiate. Burial will be in Olin Cemetery, Olin, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Michael Johnathan Taylor was born Nov. 26, 2000, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Mike Taylor and Mindy Martin. He attended Monticello schools and was a member of the Monticello High School, Class of 2020. He enjoyed video games, especially Guitar Hero, watching YouTube, going to the movies, listening to heavy metal music, fishing, all kinds of electronics and eating at Culvers, Burger King and the Cone Shoppe. He also volunteered at the Animal Welfare Friends shelter in Monticello.
He is remembered by his parents, Mike Taylor, Monticello, and Mindy (fiance Chad Paulsen) Martin, Monticello; siblings, Samantha (Jimmy Williams) Taylor, Davenport, Alexandria (Matthew) Crane, Mechanicsville, and Grace Taylor, Waterloo; his girlfriend, Alexis Gaal, Indianola, Iowa; grandparents, Pam Martin, Oxford Junction, and Don and Kathy Martin, Burlington; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J. Clifford and Doris Taylor.
