Michael Alan Henry, 38, of rural Solon, and formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday afternoon, March 15, 2015, while playing disc golf with friends near Lake Macbride. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Randy Kasch officiating. Burial: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mike is survived by his wife, Jocy; two sons, Hudson Griffen Henry, 2 1/2, and Harrison Tyler Henry, 4 months; and two brothers, Timothy (Julia) Henry and Doug (Janet) Henry, both of Cedar Rapids.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Henry; father, Patrick Leo Henry; and his grandparents, Louis Jr. and Helen Sojka and Leo and Alice Henry.
Mike was born May 30, 1976, in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Washington High School in 1994. Following high school, he attended Kirkwood Community College. Mike married Jocy Gisulga Baleros on May 9, 2011, in Iowa City. On May 7, 2014, Mike and his family moved to their home in rural Solon from Coralville.
Mike had been employed at the Hy-Vee grocery store in Coralville for the past 10 years. Mike, Jocy and their family attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Iowa City.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry family.
