MICHAEL LEROY HAND
Alburnett
Michael LeRoy Hand, 48, of Alburnett, died Saturday, April 28, 2018, at his home. Funeral services will be at
7 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, with burial at a later date at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorials will be directed to juvenile diabetes and mental health wellness. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com.
Mike was born Dec. 7, 1969, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Dale Roger Hand and Elizabeth Jane (Nelson) Hand. He grew up and attended school in Cedar Rapids, graduating from Kennedy High School. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout while participating in Boy Scouts in Cedar Rapids. On Feb. 19, 2000, he married Barbara Ann Haley in Central City. They made their home in Alburnett the past 10 years. Mike was employed at Iowa Fluid Power Inc. for over 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking and hunting.
Mike is survived by his wife, Barb of Alburnett; one daughter, Mikayla Hand of Alburnett; his parents, Dale and Betty Hand of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Jeff (Susan) Hand of Hiawatha; and two nephews, Matthew and Nicholas Hand.
