Michael J. Gorman, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center. A Celebration of Life service, with military rites, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include his wife, Geri; a daughter, Heather, and a son, Nathan, both of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Tim (Tammy) of Delhi; his mother-in-law, Alice Klostermann of Cascade; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and three great friends, John, Jeff and Matt, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Pat; and a nephew, Adam Gorman.
Mike was born March 14, 1952, in Long Beach, Calif., the son of William and Virginia Usher Gorman. Her married Geraldine A. Klostermann on June 15, 1985, in Cascade. Mike worked most recently for Five Sea- sons Jan-itorial in maintenance. He proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Mike was a real likeable person with a great sense of humor and a sharp wit. He enjoyed singing, the Hawkeyes, Cubs and especially the time he spent with his beloved family and many friends.
His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in Mike's name.
