MICHAEL F. MILLER

Michael F. Miller, 77, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 3, in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Michael was born Feb. 28, 1941, in Iowa City, the son of John Herman and Margaret (Calais) Miller. He was a graduate of City High School and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa. Michael served in the U.S. Navy. On Aug. 4, 1979, Michael married Sharon Byers in Cedar Rapids.
Michael taught language arts at Kennedy High School for 31 years. He liked to canoe and kayak, and loved the Boundary Waters. He was an avid fisherman, and especially enjoyed flyfishing.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of North Liberty; and their son, Todd Michael (Wendy) Miller of Piscataway, N.J.; his granddaughters, Maya and Caroline; siblings, John (Jeanne) Miller of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Sharon Miller of Iowa City; five nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded by his parents and one brother, Tom.
No services are planned. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
