Michael E. Kettering, 65, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Shawn Riley; a brother, Danny (Barbara) of Illinois; three nieces, Denise (Todd), Dannette (Trent) and Dana, and their families; as well as many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Michael was born on May 10, 1953, in East Moline, Ill., the son of Edwin and Addie Aschbach Kettering. He married Shawn E. Riley on Dec. 31, 1999, in Cedar Rapids.
Mike was in industrial equipment sales for over 40 years, retiring in 2016. He was a member of ABATE of Iowa, the NRA and several pool leagues.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, shooting, trips to Las Vegas with Shawn, and time spent with his family and many friends.
Mike forever will be remembered as a wonderful son, brother, husband and friend, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
