Michael J. Daley, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital after a lingering illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. A vigil service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday at the church after 9:30 a.m.
Mike is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Angie (Willy) Buck of Marion; son, Brian Daley of Cedar Rapids; brother, Stephen Daley of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; stepdad, Lowell Harford; several foster children; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, JoAnn Daley; and brother-in-law, John Thomsen.
Mike was born Aug. 8, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Eugene and Violet Goodwater Daley, and married Marjorie Thomsen on Dec. 14, 1968. He retired in 2008 after 39 years as a bus driver for the city of Cedar Rapids and Charter Coaches.
Mike enjoyed all types of music, especially jazz, fishing, telling stories, drawing, and reading and learning about history.
The family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen estates for the wonderful care they gave Mike toward the end of his life.
