Michael G. Clinton, 59, of Independence, Iowa, died Monday morning, Dec. 29, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, Iowa.
Mike was born on Feb. 6, 1955, in Cherry Point, N.C., the son of Gerald E. and Beverly A. (Johnson) Clinton. He was raised in the Cedar Rapids and Independence, Iowa, areas and entered the U.S. Marine Corps on Feb. 16, 1972, where he received his diesel mechanic certification. Following his discharge he was employed as an over the road truck driver, most recently with the MacFarland Truck Lines in Minnesota. On Nov. 19, 1996, he was married to Cynthia R. Walztoni in Independence, Iowa.
He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and he enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and his Harley motorcycle.
Mike is survived by his wife, Cynthia Clinton, Independence, Iowa; five children, Nicole (Jeremy) Beatty, Independence, Iowa, Jacqui Walztoni, Mound, Minn., Matthew (Melissa) Walztoni, Jesup, Iowa, Andrew (Sara Arnold) Walztoni, Independence, Iowa, and Lucas (Kristen Kenny) Clinton, Springfield, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Cindy Kielty, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jerri Lynn Clinton-King of Arkansas; and three brothers, Larry Clinton, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dennis Clinton, Center Point, Iowa, and Tim Clinton, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence, Iowa, with the Rev. Greg DeBoer officiating. Burial will be in the Quasqueton Cemetery, Quasqueton, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, and from 9 a.m. until services Saturday at the church.
