Michael James Christensen, 50, of Marion, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, of injuries he received in a pedestrian/vehicle accident in Tempe, Ariz. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 7, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Johnson officiating.
Michael is survived by his wife, Anne Christensen of Marion; his children, Aaron and Sara Christensen, both at home; his mother, Cathy McCluskey of Cedar Rapids; his father, Dwayne (Shirley) Christensen of Elberon; and his siblings, Michelle (Rick) Prull of Maquoketa, Derek (Lynn) McCluskey of Cedar Rapids and Jennifer McCluskey of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are many loving family members and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Rozelle Kasal and Earl and Mildred Christensen.
Michael was born June 8, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Dwayne Christensen and Catherine (Kasal) Christensen. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Michael then attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., graduating with a bachelor's degree. On May 14, 1994, in Hinsdale, Ill., he was united in marriage to Anne Beube. Michael continued his education, receiving a master's degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago. Later, he graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Michael worked as a director at CliftonLarsonAllen. He was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to US Bank, 5321 Council St. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402-1901, Attn: Jessica Doocy. Funds will be used for the future educational expenses of his children.
